My latest design, The Mrs Tumnus Shawl, is now published and available to buy on Ravelry. The PDF download includes both written and charted instructions as well as a page of blocking instructions to ensure that the horseshoe curve formed by the knitting is blocked to the perfect shape and dimensions, with a beautifully defined curve to the inside edge.
The shawl can be worn in a number of ways, either as a traditional shawl around the shoulders, or worn close to the neck as as scarf, shawlette or large neckerchief, and using only one 100g skein of fingering weight yarn, it is perfect for that special skein of yarn in your stash or for an inexpensive but beautiful gift.
Whichever way it is worn, the inner curve helps the shawl to sit beautifully around the neck and shoulders for maximum effect and warmth without bulk. The design is both practical and decorative without being fussy.
The shawl was inspired by the character of Mr Tumnus in The Chronicles of Narnia, who is always seen wearing a warm red scarf in the eternal winter. His is a garment of practical necessity, but this shawl is as luxurious and wonderful to look at and wear as it is useful. I like to think of it as the kind of gift that gentle Mr Tumnus would give to the person he cared about most.
The pattern is available to download now from my Ravelry store and includes full step-by-step blocking instructions, written instructions for those who prefer them as well as generous sized charts for knitters who prefer charted designs.
Pattern available now for just $4.50
